  Pastors Jim and Darla Snipe started Sumoto Chapel on April 4, 1999, a chapel of the Good Samaritan Church in Inagawa-cho, Japan. The church was located in a rented building in Sumoto, Japan. The building was at the foot of Mt. Mikuma and close to Ohama Beach Park in Sumoto. An English conversation school was also started at the same time.
  On April 5, 2008, a new church building was dedicated for Sumoto Chapel. The site for the new church was towards the south central part of Sumoto with a beautiful view of Mt. Sen, known as the Mt. Fujii of Awaji Island. The site is close to Sumoto IC with easy access to all of Awaji Island.
  Shin Ai International Preschool was started in April of 2009, but closed 11 years later in March of 2020.    Jim and Darla still operate the English school.
